NEW YORK – AT&T Inc. announced that it would be deploying a new and long-promised technology expanding the reach of its U-Verse service to more homes.

The company is deploying the long promised “pair bonding” -  effectively sending the signal over two phone lines at once – extending the reach of U-Verse another 1,000 to 2,000 feet from neighborhood nodes.

In the past, to make U-Verse accessible in an area, AT&T had to pull optical fiber into it and install boxes known as “VRADs.” Pair bonding represents a cheap way to expand the availability of the service without installing more VRADs.

Company representatives then threw out some more obscure technical jargon and finalized by stating, “Now, finally, a lot more people will be able to experience our price gouging and crappy services.”
